As you can well imagine, one of my favorite classes at SPARK was the She Art class by Christy Tomlinson. Since I've taken a lot of classes from her already, I didn't exactly follow along. I just made my own girl with the supplies provided.
My eldest is a very literal person and he commented that the sentiment was a poor choice because girls don't usually do a lot of leaping in a fancy dress and boots. As the discussion went on we decided that literal "she" statements just wouldn't work. For example,
" She was missing her face"
ROFLMBO
It was great having a nice deep canvas to work on. I'm too cheap so I usually collage on MDF, but then you don't get the gorgeous sides.

Oh Nicole, please tell your wonderful son that he has made my day :) I am not a huge fan of the she art phenomenon, I must admit, I love the backgrounds but not so much the empty faced girls - kinda creepy - or the more vapid of the 'she' statements I have seen (not yours, they make sense to me, its the ones like 'she cherished her heart....' , all a bit too airy fairy for this feet-on-the-ground Brit). But now I have SUCH an urge to make one! Just so I can use 'she was missing her face' :D priceless!
I heard Spark was really amazing. Love your she art!! Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful job Nicole! I love your artwork!

tremendous creation nicole! really diggin the color & content!!! :)
I dig your 'artsy' stuff!! I am not artsy at ALL...and tell your son that the best 'leapers' actually do it in a tutu and steel-toed shoes. So there: never underestimate a woman! LOL!!
Lovely! Wish we could have had more time together. xoxo Hugs from Conroe, Texas www.lovestocreate.com
stunning stunning stunning !!!!
oh....so glad I found you and your blog... such an inspirational place for me. Your work is lovely. I struggle with the sides of my canvases. Never thought to make them art all there own. Might have to try this...
So now I have this nagging desire to put on a skirt and boots, then photograph myself leaping around just to send it to your boys! LOL!
"SHE" could be Eleanor Rigby who kept her face in a jar by the door....
I like this. You rock that canvas.
And your son is a hoot!
Awesome canvas! Spectacular!
Gorgeous, amazing project!! ~ Blessings
