CupCards {to go} Virginia ~ Giveaway!!!

It's reveal time for the June Cup Cards {To Go} kit which is now officially on sale and will be shipping on June 4th. Run don't walk -  Virginia is GORGEOUS!

The first card I want to share with you is a mixed media styled card that proves urban graffiti and pretty in pink can play well together. Kind of like Nic Cage and his girlfriend in Valley Girl *grin*

See, the comparison:

If you're just dipping your toes into painty, urban art, making this card is a simple way to try it out.

Start with this paper, the bold text is a perfect background for bright smears of color.

Add some green paint:

Pull it down the paper by swiping something relatively rigid through the paint - I used a piece of cardboard from a cereal box but other "tools" that work well are credit cards (especially the fake ones in junk mail), palette knives or greeting cards.

If you choose to go in more then one direction be careful not to get the sections so close that the whole thing is painted. Without the distinct swipes of color you lose the effect.

Add brown paint and swipe:

And white, then black:

You always want to include a little black to this sort of project, it grounds the colors and offers a nice bit of contrast.

Using a paint brush or the end of your tube of paint, edge your piece in red. Don't worry about being perfect or getting every last bit.

Now do the same to three strips of patterned paper and the tag:

Dry with a heat tool or let air dry for an hour or so.

Assemble your card elements as shown tucking both the ribbon and the sentiment under the large felt flower and the the paper strips under the tag.

Now don't you want to play too?

Good, because I'm giving away this fabulous kit to one of you as a thank you for all your support over the last three years and 595 posts. I really love you guys!

Isn't it pretty?

To win, all you need to do is leave a comment here on this blog * on any post* between June 1st and June 14th and I'll draw a random name from all the comments on June 15th and we'll get a kit out to you.

Sorry, but do to shipping costs, this prize is only available to readers in the US and Canada. I promise all my lovely overseas friends that I'll have prizes for you too this month.

If you want to blog, tweet or facebook about Made By Nicole I'd love you forever... let's face it, I already do but even more! That'll get you an additional name in the hat.

And joining me on any of my crazy projects - like the One Sheet Wonder project going on now - will get you an extra chance to win as well. There's a Mister Linky to help you share you projects.

Or if you bake a cake. Any cake (mine or not). And tell me about it. One entry.

And of course, let me know if you're a follower or subscribe in a blog reader.

Please leave separate comments for each act of awesomeness to make it easy on me and my not-so-hot accounting abilities.

You know I love everything you create and this is no exception. I love the urban grungey background against the softness of that flower. Cool.

Thanks so much for the tutorial. I'm not good at random swiped kind of art. I really need to loosen up. *grin*

Nicole, I started following your blog when you played at the ScrapRoom. I find it so interesting. My style and your style and completely opposite, but this is really cool. I'm actually going to break out my stuff and try this and the paper you posted yesterday. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the inspiration.

I hope baking cupcakes counts since you have some of those in the link you gave. Most recently I made some banana chocolate chip cupcakes stuffed with peanut butter pretzel bites topped with peanut butter frosting:

I also plan to bake a real cake this weekend for my 5th wedding anniversary as a present to my husband. I hope it turns out ok!
