Never Apologize For Who You Are: Art Journal

This is a page I did for Dina Wakely's lesson for LifeBook. 

It was a dresses assignment and I did one in a dress (I'll post it tomorrow) but then made another wearing pants. 

Seemed like a good message for a Monday morning.

Painted Elephant Stamp and Art Journal Page

And I used it in this art journal page where I tried out my new Dylusions. Wow are they ever awesome. Great color saturation.

I did lots of reverse stenciling on these pages I think it's a technique I'll be using a lot more. 

I love being able to do different spray techniques on the background and the foreground and still only have one layer.

The stamp has been wonderful for notecards, I've made zillions as I had a ton of notes to write lately.

They've been very well received so... yay!

A Friendly Fairy

The first fairy I made is SO me but she was also a little .... er... judgmental and unimpressed. 

So I decided to make a conscious effort to create a sweet-natured, friendly, supportive fairy. 

Her dress was made of modeling paste and her wings are Gelli Plate mono-printed paper:

Fairy Art Mother- Mixed-Media Painting

I'm taking Life Book this year and our first project was to make a Fairy Art Mother who will encourage you and love your art unconditionally.

So of course mine turned out looking judgmental and mildly disapproving... I'm not at all surprised.

Her wings are SUPER iridescent as I colored them with sprays but the lighting and the photographer didn't cooperate - fyi, I'm the photographer. 

At the end of the year we're binding our projects into an art journal. It's very strange to me to 'art journal' outside of my art journal. YKWIM?
