Christmas Angel Tag - Bombshell Style

You know I love my Bombshell Stamps. So when I saw an angel tag by Carolyn Peeler for the 12 Feminine Tags of Christmas I couldn't help but add the wings from the Sacred Heart set to the pirate from A Pirate's Life.  Boom! I got me an angel... more like a Victoria's Secret angel but...

It was fun to do some masking and coloring - it's been awhile.

In addition to the glitter, there is a border of glass micro beads around the edge. It gives the tag great texture, shine and interest that the photos aren't quite capturing. Silly winter skies and the trouble they wreak on picture taking!

The color scheme, glass beads and pearl were all inspired by the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger

Thanks so much for stopping by :-)

10 Years Ago and Super Powers

I'm trying to catch up on my 30 Lists so I did two more art journal pages last night.

The first topic was, '10 Years Ago..." This was really heading into sad territory so I focused on the facts - like that my boys were 3, 4 and 5 and we had amazing friends, I was researching homeschooling.

I started out with this:

And made this:

She is a favorite Stampotique stamp of mine called Glimmering Hope

On the other side I used the prompt, 'My Superpowers' and I didn't worry about the two sides matching. I decided that it's all me so some sort of continuity should present itself.

The heart was some leftover Ouchless Cardboard from Gauche Alchemy that I used the area around it in this Love Birds AJ page:

See:

And I used a mix of stickers, rub-ons and words from magazine pages for the text.

The wings on the heart are Bombshell Stamps from the Sacred Heart set. It was one of my first sets and I still reach for it often. Gotta love that kind of staying power. After cutting the wings out, I Mod Podged them to the heart and background and then, once dry, colored them with Sakura gel pens.

Here are the pages side by side. click to see them full-sized.

And I wanted to thank my friend Eileen for the Versatile Blogger Award, so sweet of you.

Handmade Canvas Art Journal: Dina Wakley Style

This is the second project in my self-styled "Dina Camp" (that I talked about extensively on my first project here) where I am working through all four of her projects from Somerset Workshop. I was very intrigued by this one as I've never attempted making my own art journal and I knew Dina Wakley would make sure it was both awesome and useable.

What surprised me most was how straight forward and simply it all came together. I made this late at night and had nothing short of pure fun. Gotta love that!

I haven't decided if I'm going to art journal in it or make a "brag book" style photo album. Either way, I know it'll be called into action soon.

Poe and all the punchinella are from Gauche Alchemy and the wonderful wings are Bombshell Stamps.

Can I have a proud mama moment? My youngest son is very creative and he is either doing crafts, baking or assembling miniature explosives (don't ask) with the bulk of his free time.

The last two days have been occupied with him making more wands then Olivander's, and what is all the cooler - they're made from a sheet of typing paper and a glue gun. Crazy!

Aren't they AWESOME?

The tutorial can be found at Instructables and come from the wonderful website Dad Can Do.

Halloween?

Yep. I made a Halloween decoration. Why? I'm not sure other than I have my box of Halloween crafts out as I've been sifting through them. I guess it spilled over into my creative life.

When I saw this week's sketch from 2S4Y I immediately thought bookmark or wall hanging so I kept that in mind while creating. I also had the Tuesday Trigger in the forefront of my thoughts and I set out to make an Eerie Elegance project for the Macabre Monday challenge. Somehow, completely without intention, I combined all three:

This wall hanging features Bombshell Stamps: A Pirate's Life, Holiday Accessories, Sacred Heart

Today, pain and mobility wise is the worst day I've had yet. It's scary. I feel like I'm holding on for dear life. Only six days until surgery :-)
